Handmade Crochet Blankets
At any given time I usually have 2-3 projects going on at once. In an attempt to cut down on the multiple Joann's bags that can often sit around my house for months at a time, I have "vowed" to tackle one DIY at a time. (boring I know!)
Although the Vegas temperatures haven't really dropped below the 60's yet, it hasn't deterred me from getting bitten by the crochet bug. A few years back I made my first crochet blanket (below) and it's still a couch favorite, so I thought I'd give it another try.
This beauty below started out as another couch family blanket but quickly turned into an individual blanket for my 7 year old once I saw it was going to be too small. As you can see he loves it, but I have 3 other boys, 2 of which quickly chimed in “Mom I want a blanket toooooo”
Being the crazy person that I am, I took on making 2 more blankets for Christmas while caring for my 7 week old! I took advantage of the Black Friday deals at Joann’s and picked up some Bernat Blanket yarn that’s normally $9.99 for $4.99 each! It was so much yarn they gave me a small trash bag instead of a regular store bag!
I let the boys pick out their own colors for their blankets, but this time I am trying a different stitch. So far so good (thank God for videos that accompany the pattern!) I’ll be sure to post another update when I’m done with the next two.
Think you're up to try this DIY? Here’s the link to the pattern if you’re feeling brave! Follow me on Pinterest for my other crochet aspirations.
